Ronnie Clarke – Mimema

Soundscape is an experimental, audiovisual work of sounds meant for dreaming, meditating, moving and filling the steady background noise of isolation. Presented both as a click-through application and a separate video format, Soundscape turns Windows stock landscapes into revolving screen savers of unreachable, dream-like places we can't go to amidst the pandemic. In the video work, floating, three-dimensional hands reach into these landscapes but can never quite rest on the places they depict.

Image Description: A looping video shows several 2D images rotating on their own axis. The 2D images depict stock landscapes of cloudy skies, mountain ranges, bodies of water, canyons and caves. The images have 3D rendered hands in various colours that pierce through the 2D landscapes. Some of the hands are pointing and some of the hands are cupped. The images and the hands rotate together as a pulsing audio track plays in the background. Throughout the video, the landscapes become transparent and overlap each other.
